Jenny Magnusson e Patrik Elgström lavorano rispettivamente con la scultura e con la fotografia. Con il titolo, gli artisti indicano un’attività strettamente legata al loro lavoro: SKYMMER allude a qualcosa che è oscurato; dove il significato sta dietro ciò che è nascosto. Ambiguo in tutta la sua semplicità. C’è qualcosa che nasconde qualcos’altro? Sono io che lo nascondo?

SER riguarda il desiderio di guardare, studiare, notare i dettagli; collegamenti e cause. Avventurarsi nella materialità del materiale per vedere il significato in ciò che ci sta di fronte. Letteralmente.

Lo spazio è inteso come punto di partenza per la costruzione delle opere; esse sono concepite per il luogo specifico e interagiscono con l’architettura. Ogni opera è intrisa di storie individuali che si incontrano nello spazio e così un ulteriore fattore di senso sorge.

Skymmer och ser fa parte di una serie di mostre iniziata al Museo Värmland di Karlstad in Svezia nel 2014.

Jenny Magnusson and Patrik Elgström work with sculpture and photography respectively. This exhibition focuses on central themes in both their practices: materiality, spatiality and architecture. An exploration of the viewer’s and their own movements in relation to place and object.

With the title, the artists point to an activity linked to both their works. SKYMMER (HIDES) alludes to something that is obscured. Where the meaning lies behind what is hidden. The absence of a subject makes it ambiguous in all its simplicity. Is something hiding something else? Am I the one hiding it? SER (SEES) is about the desire to study, notice details. Links and causes. To venture into the materiality of the material. See the meaning in what is before us. Literally. The space as a starting point for the nascence and presentation of the works. They are made for the specific site, where they interact with the architecture. The exhibited works are each imbued with their individual stories that meet in the space. An additional element arises.

This is part of a series of exhibitions named Skymmer och ser. The first part was shown at the Värmland Museum in Karlstad Sweden in 2014.

Jenny Magnusson

She works with sculpture. Live and work in Gothenburg Sweden. She graduated from Valand Art Academy in 2000. Magnusson has participated in both solo and group exhibitions in Sweden, Germany, USA and Italy, at Museum of Modern Art in Stockholm, Ystad art museum Karlstad, Kalmar Art Museum, Galleri Kunstlerhaus Bethanien and Galerie Jochen Hempel in Berlin, Blue Star Contemporary in San Antonio , Risse(e) zentrum NEST festival and at Villa Nigra-Miasimo Italy among others. She is represented by Gallery Fagerstedt in Stockholm.

Patrik Elgström

Hi works with photography, live and work in Gothenburg Sweden. He graduated from Valand Academy-Photography in 1996. Elgström has participated in both solo and group exhibitions in Sweden, Germany, USA and Italy. He was the recipient for Sweden Art Grant Comity IASPIS Grant at Künstlerhaus Bethanien In Berlin Germany in 2014-15. During November 2017, Patrik Elgström had a residence at Vermont Studio Center Vermont USA.
